I moved to Colorado Springs in January 2008.  I graduated from Vanguard University of Southern California in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  After college, I worked as the director of an after-school program, which led me to be on the founding team of Mika Community Development Corporation in Costa Mesa, California.  I worked in the same community with some wonderful families for 6 years before returning to Vanguard to get my California Teaching Credential.  During that time, I was also able to study Spanish in Costa Rica and visit several other countries in Europe and Africa!  After student teaching in 2nd and 5th grades, I was hired at Evans as an ELA teacher.  I am excited to start my second year as a first grade teacher!

When I am not in the classroom, my husband, Craig, and I enjoy a wealth of outdoor activities.  We love skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer.  I enjoy running and have even run several marathons and half-marathons.  We love playing with our dog, Hershey, and we take her camping as much as possible.  When the weather is too cold, I like to read and write...or travel somewhere warmer...with a beach!
