Classroom Rules (PAWS)

Students will...

1.  show a Positive attitude

2. Act respectfully

3. Work smart

4. put Safety first

In keeping with a Positive Reinforcement approach to classroom management, I will recognize students when they are adhering to our classroom rules.  Often, this recognition will be in the form of an initial on their PAWS chart.  When they reach 5 initials, students receive a prize!  Students can also be recognized in the hallways, dining room, playground and enrichment classes.  Look at your child's planner nightly to see how they have reflected on their behavior!

If students choose not to follow our classroom and school rules, our discipline steps are as follows...

1.  Corrective teaching - review skill

2.  Intervention - time out &/or a note home in the child's planner

3.  Time-out to another teacher's classroom

4.  Referral to counselor or administrator

5.  Incident report - parent notification

6.  Develop action plan and apology to teacher

7.  Return to class
